
Chemonics International seeks a field director for the ongoing USAID-funded Afghanistan Stabilization Initiative-South project in Helmand. The project aims to create conditions that build Afghan communities' confidence in the Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan through improvement of the economic and social environment. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world. Responsibilities include: manage and direct grants that contribute to stabilization; manage grant files and provide accurate data on the status of grant activities; and work with USAID, the International Security Assistance Force, and Government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to develop a stabilizing strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS include: Bachelor's degree. Minimum five years of experience in a national supervisory capacity within a local developing country environment. Experience working in fragile, conflict, or post-conflict developing countries. Experience working in Afghanistan a plus. Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity. Experience managing grants, subcontracts, procurement, and USAID-funded projects. Experience managing Office of Transition Initiatives projects desired. Experience training and mentoring local organizations in developing and implementing grant activities. English fluency required; fluency in Dari or Pashto a plus.
